MY STORY

Listen deeply. Speak truth. Guide Change.

Curious

I am the first-born American child of immigrant parents, and from an early age I understood my purpose as a change maker, facilitator, and guide. As a child, I was endlessly curious—quietly watching people and my surroundings until I felt safe enough to add my own voice. At the same time, I grew up in a Chinese family of bold, outspoken women who never hesitated to speak their truth. Their example taught me the power of courage, conviction, and using one’s voice to challenge and transform the world around us.

Interconnected

That early curiosity grew into a lifelong love of hearing people’s stories—learning what motivates them, what helps them feel strong, and what allows them to step into their full brilliance. I am most energized when I can support others in creating the change they want to see—in themselves, their relationships, and the organizations where they devote their time and energy. At the core, I believe we are all interconnected and share responsibility for each other in this world.

Skilled

I expanded these values and practices in graduate school, earning an MA in American Studies and a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies. There, I developed a rich toolkit of sociological research methods—critical participant observation, participatory action research, interviewing, and survey design—combined with Ethnic Studies scholarly tradition of critical analysis that continue to shape my work today. These methods not only honed my ability to see patterns and through-lines, but also deepened my commitment to centering human experience in every system, organization, and community I engage with.
